TO ALL
EXTENDED CAMPUS INTERNET STUDENTS:
POLICIES
& PROCEDURES
Please read this carefully before
starting your course
You will not be able to access your
classes until the start date!!
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU READ YOUR SYLLABUS!!!
Our staff deals with Extended
Campus students only. As Director of the Extended Campus, I have overall
responsibility for the Extended Campus Program.
Our advisors for Extended Campus Internet Program students are:
Katie Phillips kphillips@limestone.edu (Human Resource Development, and Psychology)
Dr. Russell Meade rmeade@limestone.edu (Business all other concentrations)
Katye Price kprice@limestone.edu (Liberal Studies and Criminal Justice).
The official add/drop period ends at 5pm on second Monday after the course start date. To add or drop a class during this time you will need to go to the web site and fill out a Drop Form. If you drop a class during this time you will not be held financially or academically responsible for it. If a student signs up for class but does not contact the professor at least once in the first TWO weeks of the class they will be dropped and charged a $90.00 fee. The student will not receive a grade for the course. The student will be dropped only if the instructor reports to our office that there has been no contact with the student. DO NOT CALL OUR OFFICE TO DROP A CLASS.
Classes must be completed in EIGHT WEEKS (with the exception of classes scheduled longer)
Extensions will only be granted in extreme emergencies. NO EXCEPTIONS!! As per Limestone College’s Academic Catalog, “A mark of ‘I’ is assigned, at the discretion of the instructor and the Vice President for Academic Affairs, when due to extenuating circumstances such as illness, a student is unable to complete the work assigned in a course. It is understood that to receive a mark of ‘I’, all completed work in the course must be at the passing level or above. The mark of ‘I’ must be removed by the end of the following grading period. Failure to complete required work will result in a grade of ‘F’.” If a student must withdraw from a class, they must e-mail the instructor through WebCT. A student cannot wait and withdraw from a class on the last day of the course.
Students are expected to communicate with the professor frequently. Attendance in an Internet
course is defined as electronic communications with the professor. After the Drop/Add period, each student will
be expected to communicate with the professor at least once a week. After two (2) weeks with no communication,
the student will be dropped from the course. The
professor will assign a grade of "WF" at the last date of attendance,
which is the date of the last login.
We use WebCT as our course management software. This software allows more interaction with the professor, online quizzes, online assignments, and many other teaching tools. Also, WebCT has its own email system built within, so there will be no need to send emails via your personal email program unless otherwise stated in course syllabus. Please see the Student’s Guide to WebCT for directions on how to access WebCT.
****PROCTOR: EACH STUDENT MUST SUBMIT A PROCTOR APPLICATION
FOR APPROVAL BY THE END OF THE 2ND WEEK OF CLASS. This will ensure that your proctor will be approved
and in the database on time for mid-term exams. The proctor application
is available at www.limestonevirtualcampus.net.
Click on Extended Campus Internet Schedules and Resources, then proctor
application. Once the form is completed by you and your proctor, you must
mail or fax to (864 488-4595). Your proctor must have an e-mail
address.
Once approved, that proctor may be
used for all Extended Campus Internet courses. You will be contacted if
there is a problem with your proctor application.
TEXTBOOKS:
The textbooks are managed by the College
bookstore. The College will continue to keep books at the lowest price
possible.
Students who drop a course
but receive a textbook must return it within three weeks of the start of
the course. ***Make sure you read the syllabus before opening shrink
wrapped books. ALL SHRINK WRAPPED BOOKS ARE NON-RETURNABLE IF
OPENED. The returned book must be in the same condition as received.
Effective immediately no book may be returned unless the class is dropped. No exceptions. Books may no longer be refused and they will be shipped back to sender if paperwork is not enclosed. Do not order a textbook if you do not plan to keep it.
Access
Codes: Some courses require access codes. Most access
codes can be found in the Student’s Guide to WebCT on the back cover in a small
envelope. These will come with the book. If your book does not have
an access code with it and one is required to access the course, please contact
the Extended Campus office.
Course
Evaluations: A course evaluation
will be available online during the last 2 weeks of class.
If you have any questions, please contact the Extended Campus Office at 1-800-795-7151, ext.7.
